I note simply, as one, who by wondrous coincidence, shares names with David Johansen and his alter ego. there are very very few rock and rollers (hell, artists, period) who matter more than him or the Dolls.

As for Mr. Kittrell, or however he spells it (not wasting energy to check): he needs a hobby. Hopefully one that doesn’t involve dismembering rodents.

Quit insulting our president…lol… isn’t that allowed in a democracy? Or can you only insult Sleepy Joe?

Sleepy Joe was never actually President in any real way

Unlisted Canadian artists that deserve mention:

The Band [somehow overlooked]

Alvvays

Alanis Morissette

Tegan and Sara

Bruce Cockburn

Sloan

Anne Murray

Steppenwolf

Metric

(Here we could add Broken Social Scene

and then Shania Twain if you like [how quickly we forget . . . and there are others of course].)

David Johansen was a good person: authentic, present, funny, able to reinvent his career and persona, and a charismatic stage performer.

I was one of his agents during the Buster era, and I was a fanboy during my high school years. R.I.P.

I've been saying that "the emperor has no clothes" for quite some time now. What a strange time we are living through...and it's not only happening in the United States.

"He’s a vindictive, pathologically resentful, racist greedhead"

You know, Bobby, YOU are vindictive and pathologically resentful yourself. So maybe take a look inside. Calling Trump "racist" is a stupid joke. He has never given the slightest sign of racism, it's just a Progressive fantasy, a projection of your own Jew-induced anti-white racism. And "greedhead" is said like the angry little middle school girl you are.

Anyway, it does my dirty heart good to know that you'll probably drop dead with Trump as President, or if you hang on four more years, the obvious Vance presidency that will follow. Most Americans, those who aren't NPC retards like you, are loving what's happening right now. And things are just getting started.

I mean what's your problem anyway? Were you getting USAID money or something?

Pleas don't make the mistake of thinking I don't believe you're insane, but blaming a plane crash on diversity quotas minutes after it happens is among the most blatantly racist things I've ever had the misfortune to witness from a political figure.

What's YOUR problem? I don't recall your best buddy Jesus ever speaking well of liars, rapists, thieves, spreaders of pure hate, and persecutors of the weak and downtrodden. Maybe thst's becsuse I find the New Testament a better guide to living "The Art If zThe Deal."

Uh, that Kittrell guy - makes a dane happy to live in a secular society. I’m willing to accept some potential spiritual benefit to ‘extra-rational’ perspectives; but rationality proper does train honesty, and fuck if it ain’t hypocritical to identify as a christian (as I can only assume this guy does) and then swear allegiance to Trump of all people.

The "Armstrong as a Young Man" covers 1923-1934 (as per your link) so not "career-spanning." That a damn fine recommendation.... Also, William C. Kittrell has to be a made up persona -- too good to be true. I hope Kittrell is writing a novel. It will be a corker.

Forgetting JB's Star Time was a serious oversight. It got an A Plus, after all. My only excuse is that I scanned my three actual box set shelves when preparing my answer and it wasn't there. Instead, I now see, it's in the CD shelves proper as a jewel-boxed four-CD set. Was there a literal cardboard "box."? No longer recall, putting it in a category with the thousands of other recording facts I also no longer recall. C'mon, I'm 82, For me robertchristgau.com is an crucial factual resource.

Yes, there was a very nice red and gold box, which is how I got mine. In other news, as a subscriber, I’m a little disappointed you wasted valuable Xgau Sez space this month responding to that monkey.
