I too attended the Yippies inaugural ball at the Warner theater. As I recall, Admission was free if you had the Nixon mask given out earlier in the day at the Washington Monument protest. Upon entry, most attendees spun their masks around to the back of their heads. I recall this created an unforgettable, hysterical sea of Nixon heads looking up at those in the balcony! I would love to locate a photo of that scene if any readers knows if one exists or shares this memory!
