Glad to hear you attended and enjoyed. You and Carola deserve every inch of victory laps that I hope extend for many miles and years. Please direct some of your less web savvy readers to shortest route to consuming the film, as such route emerges.
I've been relying on your ears for 51 years, and I'll be reading you as long as you want to keep going. PSA: You can find Paul Lovelace's 1999 student doc, "Robert Christgau: Rock 'n' Roll Animal," on YouTube.
Congrats, Bob. I look forward to watching it. Hopefully it'll be shown in LA or streamed somewhere soon. Best to Carola! PS: The film's editor, Paul, must have followed me. I worked for you until March or so of 1997.
Just saw this in Knoxville with the filmmakers (and Ann Powers) present. It was very fine, and I was particularly moved by the scenes with you and Carola, and even teared up a bit at Randy Newman’s song. What a beautiful moment.
I know you’re a Nazi troll, so I should expect nothing better from you, but are you honestly denying that Trump’s war in Iran has increased fuel and hence airfare prices?
I was responding to the Nazi troll who commented on your Substack article (and called you a “jew-brained boomer”, which may have finally earned him the suspension he so richly deserved), not to you or your post. I am well aware you loathe Trump and it would be absurd to accuse you of being in any way a Nazi.
Congratulations to you and Carola on the film! I imagine it will be offered on streaming platforms at some point. Please keep us updated. Would love to see it!
Should be running somewhere in NYC before too long, but I certainly don't want to be pushy about it. Nina has a few minutes many have extolled and elected to wait till it was in theaters, .

Loved the movie! New subscriber because of it! Best of health, and keep reviews of new music coming!

I am looking forward to seeing this and the honor is very well deserved.
On the other hand, as someone who considers himself a critic, I hope you're not actually the last critic whose opinions really matter.
Can’t wait to see it in NYC
You both look sensational. The world needs more exposure to the XGau legacy…really quite unmatched in modern (or is post-modern) letters.

"The Last Critic"? Why not "THE GOAT"?
Can't hardly wait...

I loathe Trump and have no idea why you believe I could think he hasn't raised oil prices.

Can’t wait to see it. Hopefully it will be available for streaming at some point for those of us out in the boonies!
Hello! I write about film, music, and the chaos of making art from an insider’s point of view… by a creator who somehow lived to tell the tale.
My substack is called CUT TO BLACK.

Sounds like a great time had by all. Congrats, interested to see the film, don't stop.

Wish I could have been there! Now to try to find the film ...
