Nice career overview! We also were fortunate enough to catch the Bowery Ballroom show, as we as the incendiery show at the White Eagle the following night (6 numbers from 'Fear And Whiskey' to start). Off the Frisco tonight for the first of our three West Coast shows...

I'm an old-un who was new to this band and I saw them in Atlanta last week and the show was fantastic (despite it being at The City Winery).

Nice piece. I think those that know the band only from records might be surprised at the more straightforward rocking-out greatness of their live act.

Just missed them in Boston, damn it.

Love seeing the Waco Bros and Jon solo, too. Always brings a mad smile to my face.

God damn, I love The Mekons. In saw them in Washington, DC recently and my soul felt utterly refreshed. Does anyone know why Lu wasn't with them?

"Curse" is the album I've been listening to over the last couple of days prior to the S.F. show tonight. We're blessed with the yearly free Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival in Golden Gate Park that Jon Langford has become an integral part of, playing in some (or even multiple) formation(s) every year - the Mekons have played there at least twice, with separate evening club shows (twice on my birthday, and I can't think of much that I'd rather do on that day).

When the mekons played Atlanta last Tuesday (22 July), I learned just how hard it is to get there and back from Jacksonville, Florida, especially if you have to work on Wednesday afternoon. But in my opinion their new album "Horror" is really really good, and I can listen to in lieu of seeing them perform when my mood disorder abates long enough to play it; "Horror" is an excellent but gloomy album.

I've been one of the "miserable minority" who's been listening to them since "Fear and Whiskey," some 40 years I think, and it's hard to imagine that "Curse" came out so long ago.

I wish the mekons good fortune, and stamina, health, and happiness. And some money in return for their work.
