Robert, thank you posting this wonderful time capsule trip. It was a highly-needed getaway to read and sweet that this piece has such a special place for you in your life.

Amazingly loose Village Voice-style writing for a daily newspaper in 1972!

Newsday was "a writer's paper." It always tolerant about copnversational usages.

Bob, why do you think Deadheads were such godawful dancers? Can you name a major group whose fans were worse?

Always fun to read a first-hand account before the Dead transitioned from a (big) secret club to something closer to a cash drawer.

Happy, happy to have other old folk ( who are much better writers ) reminisce about the days past ( even if the writing has traveled to us from said days ). Also glad to be reminded that RC was not always curmudgeonly as sometimes appears.

Thanks for the memory. I think this was my first Dead show.

Beautiful writing, beautiful writing about writing and appetite fully whetted for Carola memoir. My romances require healthy component of 'rock and roll couple' and you might be the poster children of that category.

Just as I suspected a Dead concert would be: an experience as much as a concert.
